Taskforce

The Collaborative Metadata Enrichment Taskforce  is formed through a shared enthusiasm of metadata experts and open infrastructure advocates. Together, we reimagine how metadata can be collectively enriched under an alternative structure to strengthen the connections between research outputs. The success of ROR’s community curation model has proven that such approaches can be transformative for scholarly communications - a system which excels due to the considerable expertise and collective motivation for infrastructure improvement in our community.

Advocacy and Governance

Enriching scholarly metadata needn't be the sole burden of a publisher or a vendor. The responsibility of maintenance and enrichment can be shared. Effective. Efficient. Open. Trustworthy.

Technical structures

COMET is conceiving transformational approaches to metadata management. The framework has proof of concept, and reflects the collective expertise of the community.

Community-powered

Sometimes it takes the vision of a community to overcome our collective challenges. The Collaborative Metadata Enrichment Taskforce exists to transform how metadata is managed through community curation.

COMET is defined by our community, and operates through the framework of collaboration. We are a taskforce of vibrant community of stakeholders—from researchers and librarians to publishers and data stewards— committed to advancing metadata collaboration. Together, we’re establishing governance; developing collaborative tools and workflows; and crafting a model that supports long-term sustainability, ensuring that our work remains freely accessible and always open.
